See
the triangular shaped scar on this tree? It is believed to be
a "trail blaze" made by one of the early exploration
expeditions,
likely that of Gunnison in 1853 as they marked
their trail. The tree is either limber pine or bristlecone pine,
both of
which live to be ancient trees and develop lovely
character as they age under harsh conditions.
It's similar to the character we all develop in
difficult circumstances. That's Betty's hand pointing to the marker.
Myrna took the picture. |
